Elsewhere Sometimes when writing a Doctor Who review I'll begin with a decent angle and work it through to a decent conclusion. Other times I'll begin with a flimsy angle and run it into the ground. This is one of those times.

As someone who dips in and out, tonight's episode didn't make great viewing. Where had the daleks come from all of a sudden ? I was just left with the feeling at the end of the episode - well, is that it ? And please, please somebody shut the blinkin orchestra up ! It was even more painful than usual this evening, totally un-neccesary and spoilt any kind of drama that was desperatly trying (and failing) to break out.

Christ, tell me about it. The amount of times I've sat in front of a keyboard with a mind completely devoid of any intelligent observations about an episode...

I watched the first of the new series and was quite hopeful and pleasantly surprised by it. Last night's was almost embarrassing in places. Bad acting, a story line (of which there was very little) that didn't know what it was trying to do, and that over the top music that is constantly there spoiling anything amounting to any kind of drama. Spitfires in space for gods sake ?! Very amusing, although I'm not sure that was the intention ! Hope that was intelligent enough for you Frank. I'm guessing the kids would have liked the mutli-coloured daleks and star wars-esque lazer fight scenes though. After all the show is primarily aimed at them !
