TV Did anyone see Revolver the other night? The premise is that a group of 'classic' comedy performers, people like Cannon and Ball, John Inman, Honour Blackman, Gorden Kaye, Ruth Madoc and a group of young new talent appear in a sketch show with a slight edge. It was bermusing rather than funny, and rendered slightly unwatchable because everything was filmed with a wide-angle lense (Barry "Men In Black" Sonnenfeld famously said that was the lense for comedy. Not if you use it all the time mate). The effect was generally like listening to Steve Wright in the Afternoon on Radio Two now. Exactly the same format you were listening to in the early Nineties on 1FM but with new music and stuff. The contemporary and the ancient meshed together in the wrong places. Unnerving.
