TV The Alan Clarke Diaries was a particularly dense experience, with a lot of story packed into it's 30 minutes. John Hurt's portrayal was biting without being too critical, the dialogue witty without being parody. It actually felt in places like As If for Telegraph readers, which is a complement by the way. The real star was Julia Davis as Clarke's secretary -- it was all in the eyes -- her understated performances making Clarke look like even more of a twerp. Along with Nighty Night a real talent has drifted into the limelight. Congratulation due to BBC4 for creating some must see tv, and on their ratings success with a show that again both educated and entertained, something I've seen them do time and again. At least this time, someone noticed ...
